The Pamela Young Trust is a registered Scottish Charity (SC019903) that provides affordable housing in the Glenkens, a rural community in the heart of Galloway comprising the villages of Balmaclellan, Carsphairn, Dalry and New Galloway.
The brainchild of Pam Young, whose family have lived in the Glenkens for generations, the idea for the Trust began when she was asked to help find accommodation for retiring farm workers who had previously been living in tied accommodation. Having always wanted to give something to the community she loved, particularly to those who required help, she set up the Pamela Young Trust in 1992 to provide affordable housing for those in need in the Glenkens.
Pam Young died in 2008 but her legacy lives on and the current Trustees, all of whom have strong connections with the Glenkens, share her values and desire to help those who, for whatever reason, find themselves in reduced circumstances.
The Trust employs a Factor to look after the physical estate and legal services are provided by A B & A Matthews.
